Extra Curricular Acitivities
At Hamilton High School, learning extends far beyond the classroom. We believe that extra-curricular activities play an important role in helping our pupils develop confidence, teamwork, resilience and lifelong friendships.
Sport is a vibrant part of school life and there are opportunities for students of all abilities to get involved, represent the school and enjoy being active as part of a team.
Our pupils take part in a wide range of sporting activities including Gaelic Football, Hurling, Golf, Athletics, Rugby, Soccer and Basketball. Whether competing at a high level, learning a new skill or simply enjoying participation with friends, every student is encouraged to get involved and find something they enjoy.
GAA
Hamilton High School or 'Hammies' has a long standing tradtion of representing West Cork in Cork Post Primary Schools and Munster Post Primary Schools competitions. We regularly compete at the top grade and have had many great teams represent the school in the Corn Uí Mhuirí and Harty Cup competitions. The school has tasted success in a number of competitions in recent years and most notably won the Simcox Cup for the first time in the schools History in 2025. We have also had a number of our pupils don the Cork jersey with distinction over the years at Minor, U20 and Senior level in both codes such as Rory Maguire, Jacob O'Driscoll, Luke Meade and Michael Cahalane.
